Covid-19 PCR testing

PCR testing (also known as polymerase chain reaction testing), is a type of test that tells us if someone currently has COVID-19.

PCR testing is performed in our laboratory to help us detect even tiny amounts of the virus. It does this by amplifying a virus’ genetic material to a level where it can be detected.

The PCR testing is conducted as follows:

Swabbing is performed by Rapid Screening Malta. Click here to book an appointment for a swab.

If the swabs are taken up to 12.00 noon, the test results will be available from our laboratory on the very same day.

Our rigorous testing procedures and internal controls have a unique feature locally that will also ensure whether the swab was performed correctly, avoiding possible false negative results emerging from tests conducted.

Clinical Endocrinology

The study of hormones and diagnosis of endocrine disorders.

The endocrine system is a network of glands in your body that make the hormones that help cells talk to each other. They’re responsible for almost every cell, organ, and function in your body.

If your endocrine system isn't healthy, you might have problems developing during puberty, getting pregnant, or managing stress. You also might gain weight easily, have weak bones, or lack energy because too much sugar stays in your blood instead of moving into your cells where it's needed for energy.

These tests may be performed to explore potential issues with growth, development or metabolism; issues with reproductive processes, sex drive or function; and changes in sleeping pattern, mood or energy levels.

  • Testosterone

  • Thyroid Functions Test (TSH, FT4, FT3)

  • Pregnancy-Associated Plasma Protein A

  • (PAPP-A)

  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
